RECOUNTING LIVES IN POST-WWII SONOMA COUNTY WITH PETE GOLIS
April 14, 6:30pm reception, 7:00pm talk at the Sonoma County Museum
$10 museum member/$15 non-member
Pete Golis will moderate a discussion between Marie Sugiyama, George Ortiz, Bea Harris, and Eric Wilder about the socio-economic effects on communities during the post-WWII period in Sonoma County. This is a different side of the post-war period that we want to document and include in conjunction with
our exhibition, Building The American Dream: Sonoma County After the War.
Marie Sugiyama will speak about the Japanese-Americans returning to Sonoma County from internment camp; George Ortiz will speak on the rise of the Hispanic community, the work they did and the working conditions that led up to the formation of the Farmworkers Union; Bea Harris will talk about moving
to Sonoma County as a young black mother and wife; and Eric Wilder will speak about the post-war changes for the Kashia Pomo.
