B Street by BREW Tues, Sept 22 on or after 2pm- City Council Study Session Item #4.1 on City Financing Options And Courthouse Square – this affects the St. Rose Neighborhood!

On Tuesday afternoon, the City Council will conduct a Study Session. The purpose of this study session is to provide information regarding the various financing options available to the City and to discuss the options that would be available to finance all or a portion of a Courthouse Square Reunification Project.
If/when Courthouse Square is reunified, this will move all the traffic going south on Mendocino Avenue from College Avenue onto Healdsburg Avenue and B Street. The traffic along this route already travels too fast for the two pedestrian crossings that have no stop lights – especially the one located next to Brew. The city has not provided information on how they would slow the traffic down or enhance the crosswalks to increase visibility. Moving traffic from Mendocino Avenue to B Street will also encourage drivers to use 8th Street as a short cut. If you are concerned about this, please email the City Council and cc our City Manager : citycouncil@srcity.org, CMOffice@srcity.org

Community Connector BridgeThe Community Connector is Moving Forward!

The Community Connector is a proposed bicycle-pedestrian bridge over Hwy 101 from the SRJC campus to on the east side to the west side (near Coddingtown).
Thanks to community support, Santa Rosa is ready to take the next step. Last month Santa Rosa Bicycle Coalition sent out a call to action in support of the Community Connector. Hundreds signed the on-line petition and the Community Connector Bridge remains a high priority project in the City of Santa Rosa’s work plan. The City Council is now ready to take the next step in moving the project forward by using funds from Sonoma County Transportation Authority to complete the review by Caltrans of the overcrossing design. This work should be done by the end of this year, and the project would then be eligible for construction funding.
