Thursday – July 16th, 6pm – Tour of the Historic West End Neighborhood

Join the Historical Society of Santa Rosa for a tour by Allen Thomas of the West End neighborhood. We will take a leisurely walk through this historic Italian neighborhood and learn about many of the homes and stories of their original owners. The West End District is Santa Rosa’s only historic ethnic neighborhood. The first large Italian immigration occurred around 1885. The City’s 1892 block book shows about half Italian names in the district and by the 1920s documents show the proportion closer to 90%. It was also the home to several long-standing Italian businesses- Lena’s Restaurant and nightclub, Michele’s Restaurant and Franco American Bakery.

Tour starts at the DeTurk Round Barn located at 819 Donahue Street. There is no cost. Sign up at the event or pre-register with Staci Pastis at (707) 332-1347 or StaciPastis@aol.com.
