Happy New Year Everyone! Here’s our first 2014 update:
Coffee with a Local Leader
The city’s January edition of Coffee with a Local Leader event is January 31 with County of Sonoma Administrator Veronica Ferguson. Ask questions about her role in local government, the County’s budget process, and working with the Board of Supervisors. This is an opportunity to meet people directly whose work impacts you as a resident of this community. Join Veronica for coffee at Adel’s Restaurant (456 College Ave) at 9:00am.
DINE Community Engagement Program
The next city sponsored Discussions Inspiring Neighborhood Engagement (DINE) event is scheduled for February 28! Meet new neighbors and enjoy a potluck dinner while exploring the topic of “Civic Participation” in our community. What does it mean to be civically engaged? What would it look like in practice? Join city staff and share your insights while hearing the experiences of others. DINE gives you the opportunity to have meaningful conversations with neighbors you may have never had the chance to meet. It’s a great way to become involved and enjoy good food! You can register online to either participate, host, or facilitate here. Or contact Community Engagement Coordinator Georgia Pedgrift at gpedgrift@srcity.org (707-523-3023). Registration is open until February 19. The DINE Program was recently featured by the Institute for Local Government in a wonderful article, “Santa Rosa Sets the Table for Good Public Engagement.”
Public Art Survey
You can help shape the future of public art in Santa Rosa by taking the City’s survey. Your responses will help them to better understand your thoughts on public art, where public art would have a strong impact in Santa Rosa, and how public art can create a sense of community, pride, and civic engagement. The results will help shape the recommendations in the Santa Rosa Public Art Master Plan.

Show Your Love for Santa Rosa with a Selfie!
The City of Santa Rosa’s Economic Development Division is seeking photographs of people showing their love for Santa Rosa. We’d like to use these photographs for promoting Santa Rosa as a visitor destination and boosting local pride. They may be used on our website, social media, promotional videos, or other publications. Just take a photo of yourself, or have a friend take one of you, holding a sign that says “I Love Santa Rosa” and then underneath write what you love most about Santa Rosa.
