Tonight, 6:30pm –  St. Rose Neighborhood Meeting with Catholic Charities

Homeless Service Center

Description: As a condition of their city permit for the Homeless Service Center (HSC) at 600 Morgan Street, Catholic Charities meets with our neighborhood 4x/year. These meetings provide neighbors with an opportunity to discuss any issues they may be experiencing as a result of the 600 Morgan Street Service Center and to hear updates on the HSC and other programs for the homeless handled by Catholic Charities. Representatives from the Santa Rosa City Council and the Police Department are usually in attendance. All interested parties are welcome.

Special Guest: Peggy Wyman,the new Executive Director of St. Vincent de Paul

THE ART OF MUSIC

Reception: June 3, 3pm

This show includes current interpretations, as well as artistic representations of musicians both naturalistic and symbolic. In connection with The Art of Music, Chroma Gallery presents a series of live music events at the gallery and backyard concert area from 4-6pm: June 18 KRCB Backyard Concert featuring Wendy DeWitt & Kirk Harwood; July 2 Lindalou and Michael Ryge and friends; July 8 The Richard Heinberg Trio; July 16 KRCB Backyard Concert featuring the Bootleg Honeys. Exhibit on display through July 24.

Downtown Santa Rosa art galleries and studios are open for the monthly First Friday event. Participating galleries include (Open 5-7pm): The Art Trails Gallery at Corricks, Ancient Oak Cellars, and Annex Gallery. (Open 5-8pm): Chroma Gallery, Christie Marks Gallery, SOFA Studios and Backstreet Studios. Free musical entertainment in the garden behind Chroma Gallery.

WARREN ARNOLD & MARSHA CONNELL

The Gallery at Corrick’s is proud to feature sculptor Warren Arnold and painter Marsha Connell throughout both June and July. Marsha will be showing new paintings of hers, with expressive garden scenes, both wild and domestic. We are excited to introduce Warren to the Gallery for the first time; he will be showing a wide variety of his fine sculpting!

MEDIEVAL TO METAL: THE ART & EVOLUTION OF THE GUITAR

Currently On Display

This traveling exhibition is organized by the National Guitar Museum. On display are approximately 40 instruments ranging from the rare and antique to the wildly popular and innovative. This exhibition explores all facets of the world’s most popular instrument, from its history as an instrument of popular culture over the past four hundred years to modern efforts to reinvent the guitar with different materials, shapes, and approaches to design. Exhibit on display through September 4.

Santa Rosa Junior College History Walk, June 21, 5:30-7:30pm

Coming June 21, an evening walk of the SRJC campus and guided discussion of historic buildings. The evening promises to be an informative, enjoyable occasion of nostalgia and historical information for SRJC alumni and friends of this soon-to-be 100 year-old jewel of education. Orientation and refreshments 5:30 in Room 4608  of the Bertolini Student Center; tour 6-7; reception 7-7:30. Event is free, but registration is required.
