SOFA First Friday image

First Friday Downtown and at SOFA!
Date: February 5, 2016 from 5 – 8 pm

On the first Friday evening of every month, the downtown Santa Rosa art galleries and venues are open late for your enjoyment. First Friday has become very popular!

The Meet the Artist Series at the Gallery at Corrick’s is a proud part of the Downtown Santa Rosa First Friday Artwalk, alongside the Calabi Gallery on 10th Street, the Annex Galleries on College Avenue, and the South of A (SOFA) Studios with Chroma Gallery on A Street!

Corrick‘s is delighted to be featuring Michelle and Abigail throughout the month of February, and especially to offer you the chance to Meet the Artists, this First Friday of February. Wine (generously donated by Annadel Estate Winery) will be available at $5 per glass, with the proceeds, together with 10% of art sales, going to benefit Sonoma Land Trust. This month, the SOFA District will feature ‘Small Works’, an entire evening focused on affordable artwork on the small side. At CMFA, they will show photography as well as mini mixed media works. Santa Rosa Creek-PMG

Sat., 2/6 – Celebrate Your Creek for Groundhog Day

In the spirit of Groundhog Day let’s resolve not to stay stuck in our routines but rather to venture out and try something new. Even the First Saturday Cleanup (which has taken place on the Prince Greenway monthly since 2007) is breaking the mold with a new twist.

Following the cleanup this Saturday (details below) Bill Montgomery will launch his first historical and botanical stroll through the Greenway. Bill served as the City’s Parks Superintendent when construction began on the Greenway in 2000. An avid historian, Bill will share tales of Santa Rosa before and after the Greenway and how Santa Rosa Creek influenced Santa Rosa’s development. These leisurely one hour walks will take place monthly from February through August.

First Saturday Cleanup on Prince Memorial Greenway (ages 5 to adult) On the first Saturday of every month help take care of restored Santa Rosa Creek flowing through the heart of downtown. The Greenway provides a home for river otter, kingfishers, egrets, and steelhead trout as well as parks, public art, and recreation along the six mile creek trail. Clean-up supplies provided. Date: First SATURDAY of each month
Time: 10:00 AM – noon
Location: Meet at Olive Park.

Bodean and house

Tues., Feb 2 – approx. 2:30pm Bodean Asphalt Plant Study Session at City Council Chambers

Item 3.2 – Bodean Asphalt Plant Study Session: This study session provides an overview of the designation of BoDean Asphalt Plant as a legal non-conforming land use, recent code enforcement history, and the status of the current complaints. (Recently 2 sound tests corroborated neighborhood complaints about Bodean’s excessive noise in their operations.)

SUMMARY
The BoDean asphalt plant production and storage facility, located at 1060 Maxwell Drive in Santa Rosa’s West End neighborhood, has been in operation since approximately 1953. The asphalt production plant is no longer consistent with the current land use designation and zoning classification; however, its continuous, legal operation results in a use that is rightfully vested as a legal, non-conforming use. There are no pending permit applications related to this site and two active code enforcement complaints currently being investigated.
